Years ago I thought Discord was cool but I've been souring on them lately as it's become clear they're destroying forums-based culture and locking it all behind proprietary servers that could vanish at any time, with all that data lost forever because it's really hard to archive.
The group screenshare / chat part is the most compelling part of it tbh
