[02:56] <Moonstar> Hmm.... Both I believe. After playing 2nd Ed for about a year, switching to 3rd was rather hard for me. Then the people I played with made an entire day of the game, which would have been fine, except it took an hour to defeat a random incounter with these folks.
[02:57] <Moonstar> The game moved at the speed of pealing paint.
[02:58] <Moonstar> I prefer fast paced, shorter game sessions, something like 4 or 5 hours. The played from 1 Saturday in the afternoon untill 3 sunday.

[02:59] <Yaijinden> I can handle long sessions-- but yeah, they have to be paced where I'm involved more than five minutes out of every thirty or I start leaving the table and stacking dice into pretty towers.
[03:00] <Yaijinden> I think that's actually how I survived one campaign with the same character for nearly twelve levels before the game fell apart. :D

[03:01] <Moonstar> The Highest I ever got, and this is starting from level 4, was leve 6 with a mage.
[03:01] <Moonstar> My DM was haaaaarsh, but it was fun like that. It was like OHSHI we gonna die!

[03:02] <Yaijinden> It was a long game under a harsh DM that liked to regularly present challenges that would kill the party in consecutive encounters because he wanted to see how many he could legitimately kill without having accusaions levelled against him.

[03:03] <Yaijinden> The roleplaying was fun, but it annoyed the hell out of the DM because he couldn't kill anyone while we were bantering with each other.
[03:04] <Moonstar> It feels rewarding after an intense gaming session and your character is still up and going, albit it by a hit point, but by GOD that guy is in there!

But now we had a) more determined leadership and b) every writer in each of those groups had sat back and watched as the DVD sales of their work in every arena flew out of stores and made billions for the studios while they saw nothing. It united the hell out of everybody. So there ARE no fault lines this time for the producers to exploit. But they're still running the same playbook as last time. And the more it doesn't work, the more pissed off they become.
