[02:32] <Indigo> Those were moments that entertained me when it came to you. While everyone else just freaked because oh god what if it's not the top.

[02:35] <Yaiko> I examined the worst that could possibly happen. I thought, 'Well, what if it did happen?' And I found that despite all the suffering that might theoretically occur if things spiralled out of control, I would still exist as I chose to see fit.

[02:36] <Yaiko> I believed that I would survive anything that the world threw at me.
[02:37] <Indigo> For the most part you have, haven't you?

[02:38] <Yaiko> I did something foolish. I ceased to be as I was, and then something else happened, and then I came to be as I am now.

[02:51] <Yaiko> There was a time when I wanted desperately to be able to exist on my own. Succeed or fail purely on my own merits. More likely fail, to prove to myself the kind of thing I was.

[02:53] <Yaiko> Before, but also lasting up until... oh-five, oh-six, before I was willing to accept that the very notion was a trap.

[03:00] <Yaiko> One is when you say something, you mean it. Things you mean when you say are your sincere opinions. Opinions are, at their core, personal evaluations.
[03:01] <Yaiko> Thus, looking for the meaning of life is looking for an evaluation of life.
[03:02] <Indigo> So then the question is, do you want to be evaluated by others or by yourself?
[03:02] <Yaiko> If you're looking for the meaning of life, searching for it, it follows that you are looking for someone or something else to evaluate your life.
[03:03] <Indigo> Why need someone else to evaluate your life when you can evaluate it and validate yourself?
[03:04] <Yaiko> Which is a good start-- but then again, if you seek to evaluate and validate yourself, by attempting the action in the first place, a person is saying that there is such a thing as standards.
[03:04] <Yaiko> Where do these standards come from?
[03:05] <Yaiko> Are these standards supposed to be objective? Then you're establishing yourself relative to some external force, and thus falling into the first trap again.
[03:05] <Yaiko> Are these standards supposed to be subjective? Then they're arbitrary, and have no inherent, lasting relevance.
[03:06] <Yaiko> This goes back to the second hidden root of the word meaning-- which is communication.
[03:06] <Yaiko> If someone asks "What do you mean?", they are asking what you are trying to communicate to them.
[03:07] <Yaiko> In this light, examining the meaning of life is to ask the question, "What am I communicating through my existence?"
[03:08] * Indigo nods.
[03:09] <Yaiko> This is the variant of the question I ask myself nowadays.
[03:09] <Indigo> What's your answer as of late?
[03:10] <Yaiko> Generally what I prefer it to do.
[03:10] <Yaiko> It's not possible to be one hundred percent on a communication, of course-- it takes two to do it, and even if the other party doesn't flub it, I might.
[03:11] <Indigo> The thought of you going awry on communication~
[03:12] <Indigo> I know it's possible.
[03:12] <Yaiko> It happens. ♫
[03:13] <Yaiko> I happen to be more eloquent than many, but all the eloquence in the world doesn't add up to a hill of beans beyond a certain point.

[03:25] <Indigo> And don't particularly want to reach out when someone has something to say that just might lose them.

[03:26] <Indigo> Is it? I find it's often redundant. However I sit up in a shrine most of the time.
[03:28] <Yaiko> That's part of its hold.
[03:29] <Yaiko> What you do in the day-to-day can have a subtle grip on who you think yourself to be. On what you think yourself capable of doing.

[03:31] <Yaiko> And then, when you're bound by your desires, your fears, your duties, you forget that all of those things are voluntary assumptions that can be discarded just as easily.
[03:33] <Indigo> Huh.
[03:34] <Indigo> Is it really that easy?
[03:34] <Yaiko> Will there be consequences to doing so? Of course! But the fact that an option may have unwanted consequences does not mean it does not exist.
[03:34] <Yaiko> It's as simple as choosing.
[03:35] <Yaiko> Having the will to make that choice? That's what's tricky.
[03:35] <Indigo> I see.
[03:38] <Celeste> So then there is that degree of being willing to be carefree? Is that what I am gathering?
[03:39] <Yaiko> Once set in motion, it tends to stay in motion.
[03:39] <Celeste> Does it, now?

[03:42] <Yaiko> Once you realize you can drop one thing, you have demonstrated-- to yourself, if nobody else-- that you are a person who can do things as you please.

[03:43] <Indigo> Is that the vibe I get from her...
[03:43] <Yaiko> And yes, there will be friction, day-to-day, routine things that can entrap again. The very act of living generates that friction.
[03:43] <Yaiko> And it's possible that someone who did it once might forget that they can do it. It has happened before, it will happen again.
[03:46] <Indigo> Or perhaps it's something else.
[03:46] <Yaiko> I think that's part of it. The whole? No.
[03:47] <Indigo> Then what, oh wise one, is the whole story?
[03:49] <Yaiko> She's stopped worrying in large part about how others will receive her.
[03:49] <Yaiko> That was the key, in large part, to the freedom I wielded in the beginning.
