The headset fits perfectly, and the thickly-padded earmuff do as well. Not a single light or sound comes through to him from his surroundings except through the headset, but it seems to be providing all the information he needs.

[07:27] <Springfield> Soooooo, they got to work, but breakdowns in communication meant that half the time they barely knew what they were doing.

[00:48] *** Even gravity readings fail from inside the mystery zone, but, perhaps more tellingly, eather systems (clouds, storm fronts) that enter one side of the dead zone on satellite (which still doesn't show anything) do come out, seemingly normal, on the other side, after time that matches the other atmospheric patterns.
