[19:21] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] stands on a rooftop opposite the store. Bends light around her to make a telescopic lens so she can look in, and uses a beam from her finger again to aurally eavedrop
[19:21] * VR Device seems to be showing D. Kakaku everything he needs to see to avoid stumbling, or bumping into things or people. He can hear the van motor idling, and even see how hot various pipes are that he shouldn't touch.

[19:22] *** A man comes out of the store, looking very excited. "Sir, welcome, you are our establishment's 1000th customer! Would you like a free fitting and free pair of shoes?"

[19:23] *** The man shows D. Kakaku a comfortable fitting chair, and all the special tools to measure foot sizes. "Would you mind helping our store get publicity? We'd like to take pictures of you to post online, please! Is that okay?"

[19:24] * D. Kakaku [outside shoestore.] sits down on the chair
[19:24] *** VAleria notices that this is not exactly a busy shoe store. There are only three other people inside, and none of them are on a big fancy easy chair like D. Kakaku is being led to.

[19:25] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] pays careful attention to the chair to see if there's anything odd about it
[19:25] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku how to get into the chair. He hears nobody say anything about his VR gear or anything like that. Smiling people come up to him, wave, and ask to take his shoes off. They hold up several brands of shoes.
[19:26] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] wonders if he can take off the device as well for a bit.
[19:26] *** Valeria can tell that there is a person who is filming what is being done to D. Kakaku, and this person isn't talking to himn. She takes pictures, checks a computer screen, enters texts, and then repeats.
[19:26] * VR Device is showing Daniel different shoes.
[19:26] *** Does D. Kakaku take of the VR Headset?
[19:26] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] observes the entire spctrum of light coming from it to deduce material composition / temperature, etc
[19:27] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] takes off the headset, and his shoes and picks out the first pair.
[19:27] *** What exactly is Valeria observing in this way?
[19:27] *** As soon as D. Kakaku takes off the headset, the person stops taking pictures of him and begins another task.
[19:27] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] is observing the chair itself in all parts of the spectrum - visible and invisible
[19:28] *** The store staff enthusiastically measure Daniel for shoes. They take measuremetns of his arches, his size, his toes, all kinds of things.
[19:28] *** The chair seems to be totally normal.
[19:29] <D. Kakaku> [Shoestore] (welp, I guess try before I buy, maybe I can look in one later.)
[19:29] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] tries looking at the walls of the store, the people, the merchandise, in the same way
[19:29] *** Several sets of shoes are put on D. Kakaku. He's also invited to put his foot on one of those special high-tech foot mapping devices.
[19:29] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] puts it inside and asks if it makes a model.
[19:30] *** All of the people seem typical, and so does the merchandise. The thing that is off is that nobody is helping the other customers hardly at all. There are 4 people attending to D. Kakaku, and one person (barely) helping the other customers in the store.

[19:30] *** A man comes up to D. Kakaku. "I have some Sandals for you to put on. Ready to try them?"

[19:31] * VR Device broadcasts things online...
[19:31] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] wonders if they know about his device, he thinks they shouldn't, but is wondering.
[19:32] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] tries to see if she can "See" the data transmissions from the set
[19:32] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] does have a Time Lord brain and her light-abilities would let her try to parse the data
[19:32] *** The man puts sandals on D. Kakaku's feet, but then he does, it becomes apparent that inside the sandal, there are little pokey objects, which, if D. Kakaku's feet are ticklish, would almost certainly tickle him.
[19:32] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] is tickled.
[19:33] * VR Device is using a transmission pattern and uploading software that is different from any other OS running on earth right now.
[19:33] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] tries to decipher it, basically trying to be a descrambler in her brain
[19:33] *** A person behing Daniel records something in a laptop when he laughs. The man apologizes, and puts the shoes back into the travelling box--which are full of those little pokey objects, in the place of styrofoam peanuts.
[19:34] *** The shoe store employees ask Daniel which of the shoes he likes most?
[19:34] * VR Device is sending updates in the same rhythm as a GPS. That might be what it's serving as right now.
[19:34] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] doesn't see the objects because she has to use all her brain powerto try and decode what she's intercepting
[19:35] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] looks at them in detail.
[19:35] <Valeria Victrix> [Tailing Daniel] (It's sending location data...?)
[19:35] <Valeria Victrix> [Tailing Daniel] (Makes sense as it would need to know where it / he is)
[19:35] *** Valeria can also see that there's another broadcast (another light beam) that only the headset is picking up. None of the other electronics in the area are receiving it or interacting with it.

[19:36] *** The store staff congratulate Daniel on his good fortune, and offer to wrap up the shoes he picks, or deliver them to a place of his choice.
[19:36] *** That beam, it turns out, is coming from a transmitter on top of this particular store.

[19:37] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] picks a sleek pair. and asks for them to be delivered to a certain address.

[19:38] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] tries to get a closer look at the transmitter, bending light to create a bit of a telescopic effect
[19:38] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] doesn't want to trigger any potential sensors ON the building
[19:38] *** The transmitter doesn't match the making or design of any wifi-or other radio device she's been briefed on that should be on Earth.
[19:39] *** The staff make a couple final entries into a computer, and then announce that the store is about to close!
[19:39] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] has been Around the universe, would it be similar to anything she might have seen in her travels

[19:39] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] looks around and as soon as it is done, he puts the VR headset back on.
[19:40] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] takes out a camera and snaps a detailed picture of it, again manipulating light to make sure she gets a highly detailed image better than any standard optical zoom lens

[19:40] * VR Device shows Daniel that he should go to the docks now, and shows that the next nav-point is at a pier.
[19:41] * VR Device also shows that there's a massage parlor nearby, and that also has an active nav-point.
[19:41] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] puts his shoes back on and zooms in on them for a bit before heading for the nearby Massage Parlor.
[19:42] *** The pier one updates, and the massage parlor assumes a higher priority. (Valeria can "see" the transmitter activate as this happens."
[19:42] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] notes that
[19:42] * VR Device alerts D. Kakaku that it can summon a vehicle for him, but also shows him the directions if he wishes to walk.
[19:43] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] uses vehicle summons.
[19:43] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] sees he's on the move again and prepares to follow
[19:44] *** A white van comes up, and picks up Daniel again. (The same chair with straps is inside, and D. Kakaku sees a bottle of water, too.) After he is secure inside, the van drives off to another place in town.
[19:45] *** The van stops in front of a beauty parlor.
[19:45] *** The driver of the van doesn't say anything to D. Kakaku.
[19:45] * D. Kakaku [Shoestore] looks at it.
[19:45] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku that the door is open, and there's a place to stand on the sidewalk.

[19:47] * VR Device shows Daniel some very interesting sights downtown, even drawing his attention to a hot bearing in a bus that will fail soon, or where bird sounds are coming from in the alcoves of signs. It's a really engrossing experience, but then a woman's smiling face appears in front of him.

[19:47] *** The woman says "Welcome! Oh, what a good fortune you are here! Our publicist says that we should get some photos of at least one man getting treatment, and you look perfect! Would you like a complimentary treatment? We'd just want to take your picture. It's really relaxing! How about it?
[19:48] * VR Device displays the word "Yes."
[19:48] <D. Kakaku> [outside beauty parlor] sure, do you want this on me?
[19:49] *** The woman says that he can wear it at first, if he wants, but he will need to take it off for the mud facial!
[19:49] * D. Kakaku [outside beauty parlor] nods
[19:49] *** The woman pauses for a second, though, and asks if he'd *prefer* to keep it on during the mud facial.
[19:50] <Valeria Victrix> [Tailing Daniel] (He's being pampered... )
[19:50] <D. Kakaku> [outside beauty parlor] maybe.
[19:50] <Valeria Victrix> [Tailing Daniel] (It feels like a perfect way to collect biometric data stealthily)

[19:53] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku that it has "detected he is in an area designed for relaxation, and asks if he'd like some calming visuals and relaxing music.

[19:54] * VR Device starts playing soft, very calming music, and flashing in his eyepieces in time with it. It shows clouds of white, and the songs of birds, and D. Kakaku feels very relaxed even before he sits down in the chair with the cosmetologist attending him.

[19:56] *** D. Kakaku finds himself amazingly pampered. He's massaged, and pampered, and the room is filled with special-smelling oils, and they dip his hands into warm wax, and the sounds and the visuals from the headset make it even more relaxing and enjoyable.

[19:57] *** Eventually, D. Kakaku sees a view of some facial towels and mud masks (the VR visor zooms in on it), and the beauty technicians start saying to stay still, and enjoy it, and they'll give him a few mintues before they remove it. This is noteworthy, because he hasn't really heard them say anything before this, since he came in.

[19:59] * VR Device seems to have no problem functioning after clay and mud are layered next to it over D. Kakaku's nose, face, and head. It feels really warm and relaxing. The headset plays a heartbeat.
[19:59] * VR Device uploads data online, and uploads extra after the mud mask is on, and D. Kakaku is left alone.
[19:59] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] tries to decrypt any of those transmissions

[20:00] *** Having spent time around medical equipment in the EMH, and various super-tech healers, Valeria might recognize transmissions look like EEG or EKG readings.

[20:01] *** Eventually, the staff of the clinic come and clear the mud mask off of D. Kakaku, taking extreme care not to break it. They rub his arms and legs and massage his muscles, and offer him herbal tea. They then offer to clean his head with damp cloths, if he doesn't want to take the headset off, or wash his hair, if he prefers to keep it on.

[20:03] *** The staff clean D. Kakaku (it's very soothing) and send him on his way.
[20:03] *** The headset shows D. Kakaku the way to the docks---the next location. Does D. Kakaku walk, or take a vehicle?

[20:06] *** Vehicle #3 is seemingly-indistinguishable from Vehicle #1 and Vehicle #2. After strapping in, (and being treated to cookies and snacks), the vehicle takes off for the pier and docks.

[20:06] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku a relaxing ride, and offers radio control, to ensure comfort and avoid carsickness. It totally blots out the interior of the car or where D. Kakaku is.

[20:07] *** The vehicle slowly arrives at the docks. It's crazy out there because there is some kind of carnival. There are jugglers, and prize booths, and all kinds of events being set up. Music blares, popcorn pops, and all kinds of vendors hawk their wares.
[20:08] * D. Kakaku [beauty parlor] gets out and looks around.
[20:08] * D. Kakaku has moved to: [ Pier ]
[20:08] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku when the door is open, and shows two way-points to visit, along with their distance. It even shows how to avoid long lines.

[20:09] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] bends light around her like the predator since high vantages are unlikely here, and shadows from the crowd
[20:09] * VR Device shows Daniel the schematics of which carnival games are cheating, the prices of various foods, and all kind of other information. He finds it very easy to not be bumped into, because it shows images of when people are coming up behind him. The people don't seem to comment on his unusual appearance. They all seem observant only of the fair.
[20:10] * D. Kakaku [Pier] walks around, still trying to look for the two way points.
[20:10] *** Valeria Victrix can obviously hear and see that people ARE noticing D. Kakaku's unusual headgear. they remark about it, and point, but D. Kakaku shows 100% obliviousness that they are doing this.
[20:10] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku the first waypoint is near a dock at the shallow water-area.
[20:11] * D. Kakaku [Pier] heads for the first way point.
[20:12] *** There are crowds of people here. They are in big lines. There's everything from a ferris wheel to what looks like scuba diving lessons.
[20:12] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] frowns, if she has one weakness in terms of stealth, it's moving water
[20:12] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku a point in the line to stand.
[20:12] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] will have to just swim if he goes under

[20:13] * VR Device shows D. Kakaku all kinds of amazing things, like motion sensors for rides being visible, and muffles the loud sounds of shrieks from scary rides and bells from people winning prizes. It also shows him when to step forward, as he slooowly reaches the front of the line.
[20:13] * Valeria Victrix [Tailing Daniel] is not able to adjust for all the rapid diffraction in moving fluids in any effective way short of boiling through it which would not be stealthy

[20:14] *** Fortunately, the people at this shindig seem to be looking for good times and food and memories, and not short blonde women in the shadows. Nobody bothers her.

[20:15] *** A loud ringing "jackpot" sound is heard, and a woman makes an announcement. "Attention fair-goers: our scuba experience has just gotten it's 10,0000th customer! Give him a hand! He's earned a free deluxe lesson!"

[20:16] * VR Device dulls the harshness of the loud ring, but it does show a video window of the woman, and let D. Kakaku hear her announcement.

[20:16] *** Woman walks up to D. Kakaku and says, "congratulations! Way to go! Uh, that's a cool thing you are wearing, can you hear me?"

[20:16] *** Some of the SCUBA gear is fake.

[20:23] *** It seems that the waypoints are not on D. Kakaku's phone. He'll have to put on the headset. He can see, though, that the last waypoint---the highlighted one, is in the "special experiences" section of the fair.

[20:28] *** D. Kakaku saw them setting this up when his headset showed him the drone, and he looked through its cameras after its very very unlikely and mysterious crash.

[20:29] *** The tubes seem to have people inside them, who float in the water, and wear strange helmets hooked up with wires. An attractive man and woman call people over to try it. "A phone call unlike any other," "a memorable experience!"

In fact, there is a record that the suit fabricated and detached probes to destroy the hairs that broke through her suit on the day that it was punctured and Chateaux saved her life.
